And the results are in.....

Hi Everyone,
Happy first day of school for all our friends who have kids going back to school. And to my co-workers who are adjusting back from their summer schedules!

We got the results of the EEG yesterday. It did come back abnormal and showed that she is having small seizures that are causing the apnea. They did re-iterate again this is common in premiees. They put her on a drug called phenylbarbitol. It makes her sleepy since it is a sedative. They put her on a large first dose, then they will do maintenance doses added to my breast milk when they do bottle feeds with her. She had her first dose last night and hasn't and an episode. If after a week or 2 she does not have episodes they will send us home with the phenylbarbitol. After a month of her on it, we will return for and EEG. If it is normal then that's it! So let's pray that is it!

She is a great eater and sometimes I feel I am not pumping enough. But the nurses assured me that due to some of the stress it may take a while for my full milk supply to come in. Bella has every nurse that takes care of her wrapped around thier fingers! They all love her. Bella is going high tech today. Anthony and I ordered her an I-Pod Nano with mini speakers a few weeks ago for her room. We asked the nurses if we could bring it in for her and she said of course! So Anthony is home right now downloading lullaby music for her. She has 2 little friends in her room. It's a contained room with 1 nurse and 2 other babies. One of them has the same birthday as Bella and we have become friends with his parents and the RMH.

We are somewhat settled at the RHM. Thank you to Mallori for taking me to the grocery store! That was fun as a manuevered my way through the worlds smalles publix in an electric scooter. Every time I bumped into something, I would just say...sorry I just had a baby! One thing a lot of you are asking is what can you do for us?? Well the past 2 nights there has been no dinner supplied by companies or organizations. This time around we really depend on that free meal since we know we don't have to be at the hospital every waking hour. If your work, church, or any other organization wants to get involved and make a meal for the house that would be great! Just call the RMH and sign up on a specific day that works best for you.

As always our doctors and nurses are wonderful here at Florida Hospital and we are so thankful to have Bella in the best care possible.
Thank you all for your emails, texts, and phone calls. Sorry if we are not getting back right away, but we are receiving them and are thankful for all your support and care.

We will let you know how the next 24 hours go!
